This zine is an interactive scavenger hunt on UT’s campus which encourages students to take a break from their busy schedules and appreciate the nature around them. It promotes mindfulness and the use of one’s sense of smell to connect with the world.

The purpose of this assignment was to “create an interface (print or app) that, through its use, assists people in developing a relationship with an aspect of the immediate area around UT Austin.”
UT students are anxious, overworked, and in need of a break. These students are also currently very disconnected the nature around them, even though being in nature can be a wonderful way to calm themselves down.

My research for this assignment involved listening to Alexandra Horowitz’s lectures on How do dogs “see” with their noses? and How to master your sense of smell, listening to Jenny Odell’s lecture on How to do nothing, Walking with Ann Armstrong’s Odditree Society scavenger hunt pamphlet, and allowing myself to take the advice of those who I researched and exist peacefully in nature.
